Thinking of 'Fun things to do'that all your friends or family will enjoy isn't easy. Your suggestion for something to do when you are bored may be completely different to someone else idea of fun. Perhaps they are not in the mood to do that activity, visit that place, or don't want to do anything that requires effort. Sometimes the 'fun things to do' need to be done on a budget. There are times when the activities need to be indoors because of the weather. On other occasions it could be a holiday idea for a weekend break or the main family holiday.
Fun things to do as a family
1.Birthday Party
While you will most probably arrange a birthday party for your child, you can also plan to have a special birthday dinner for every family member on the eve of their birthday. "Bringing in the birthday" is a special way to mark the year whether for you, your spouse or your child; a way for the family to make the first wish before everyone else does. When your child grows up and starts having birthday celebrations away from home, the birthday eve dinner tradition gives a chance to have your own celebration as a family.
2.Pets
If you have a dog it's fun to take him out for a walk everyday in the morning or after dinner. The family gets some exercise and a chance to catch up without the distraction of television or the phone. If you can't have a big pet in the house, you can think of a small fish tank; choosing the fish at the shop, feeding the fish everyday and cleaning the tank on weekends are things little ones look forward to and enjoy.
3.Picnics
Picnics are something which every child enjoys but these have become rarities in urban areas which have more malls than green places. With some persistence, you can find places which make for good picnic spots like zoos, sanctuaries, hills on the outskirts of the city and even parks inside your city. Plan a day trip on the weekend when the weather is good, make some sandwiches the night before, pack lots of snacks, fruit, water, a big garbage bag and some games and head out early.
4.Indoor Games
Indoor Games are a great way for the whole family to have fun. You can start with the simplest of games like Snakes and Ladders and Ludo, and then progress to Chinese Checkers and Scrabble. Monopoly and Mastermind come next while card games like Uno are ever popular. Carrom and Chess are also lots of fun for older kids while Pictionary and Dumb Charades can be modified according to the age group. Jigsaw puzzles can last a whole week if you spend half an hour every day before putting it away under the bed.
